No worry to try out as HP (and many other OEMs) have implemented procedures for safe system firmware updates and formerly safe BIOS updates as long as power is not removed nore interrupted during that process. The times where you practically didn't update the bios as long as everything was running are unfortunately over for security reasons, which is why automatic updates might not be so bad - as long as they work properly, of course. And after a few driver updates, I also got the feature update to 20H2, skipping 2004.Įven though I am rather skeptical about it, I wanted to try it out. And it was the requirement to do a feature update. I can't remember which update service offered me the system firmware update. I have an HP (EliteDesk 800 G5 Tower) which has been offered an optional Bios Update via Windows Update. ![]()
